Happy Halloween from the Road

A few weeks ago my friend Juma Punti Dachs called to see if I would take him on a shopping trip. Now shopping is one of my least favorite things to do, but this was different. He wanted to go horse shopping. That changes everything.

Juma is from Spain and his wife, Maria, is a two time world endurance champion, with their famous horse, Nobby.  Juma rides at top levels and was 5th in the 2012 World Championship. He won many rides in Europe before becoming one of the top trainers for Sh. Mohammed. Juma’s barn in the UAE has an amazing 80% completion rate. Now, Juma is working back in Spain and looking for horses for his own program.

So here we are on a whirlwind tour around the US. We went to the National Championship yesterday to watch the 100 mile horses and we will be back to see the 50’s tomorrow. Our veterinarian friend, Dr. Jim Baldwin is going to drive down from Oklahoma to see us. Should be a great day.

Today is a little side trip to Reno to check out a nice mare. It’s Halloween and Juma commented that we Americans took it very seriously!  Boo!

This crazy trip is taking us from Reno to Vermont and everywhere in between. More of our adventures to follow.
